Using Simple Research Techniques to Enhance Your Promotional Messaging.

Description:   New communications technologies have dramatically changed the promotional environment.  And while most of your customers and prospects have adapted to this “new world of promotion” by modifying many of their media behaviors, the basics of effective messaging have not changed.  In short, the time-proven theories and guiding concepts of good promotional communications continue to provide a solid foundation for effective promotional message strategies.  

In our session, we will talk about the utility and basic principles of research.  We will learn how research leads to simple and powerful creative strategies.  And last, we will learn how to create promotional messages that effectively communicates a brand’s or company’s strength, clearly differentiates the brand from competitors and cuts through the clutter of the crowded promotional landscape.

Dr. Warr is currently vice president and director of research services at Zachry Associates, a full-service marketing communications and research firm located in Irving and Abilene, Texas.    He also serves as Director of Brand & Campaign Architecture for Caswell, Zachry, Grizzard, a fund raising consulting firm located in Dallas.

He has a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, and has 25 years of university teaching experience in advertising, marketing and research methodology and study design.  

Dr. Warr served for 8 years as professor and head of the advertising program at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. More recently, he served as the head of the advertising program and director of the graduate program in digital media at Abilene Christian University.   

Before joining Zachry Associates, he served as a consultant to a variety of universities, financial institutions, manufacturing, retail and service companies and to a number of advertising agencies as well.

Zachry Associates currently conducts research and serves as a strategy consultant for a variety of clients, including Michelin, AARP, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Rolls-Royce, The American Cancer Society, Texas Tech University, Jeppesen, and Aviall.
